Later, Sarah Beth wanted me to come play with her in her room because she was "lonely." Again, I chuckled to myself at her use of the word "lonely" because what does my four year old child know of loneliness?
As I thought more about it, I wondered if God smiles indulgently at us, too, as we use words like "love." "I love my husband." "I love my children." Do we really know what love is? Consider what love means to God: sacrifice. God the Father sacrificed His Son. God the Son sacrificed His life. For us. For me.
Do we really know what love is? Do we really practice it? What do you think?
