What Do You Do?

What do you do when your child won't open her mouth to be fed? What do you do when your child is not interested in eating?

Yesterday morning, I put Rachel in her high chair because we figured it's about time she started eating "real" food.
All ready to go...except that she has no idea what's coming.

Both Sarah Beth and Daniel just opened their mouths right up when we started them on "solids," but Rachel didn't.
Do you see how tightly she has shut her mouth?!

I never did get her to eat any rice cereal. *Sigh* Maybe we'll try something else tomorrow.
Doesn't she look pleased with herself for not eating anything?

Yes, Rachel is over eight months old. Maybe I waited a little too long to start her on "solids." Obviously, she's been getting enough to eat; just look at those chubby cheeks!!

Hi Nikki!!!
Elizabeth was 9 1/2 months old before she had solids and she's a great eater! So I know you aren't starting too late. She'll eat eventually, she just has to get the hang of it first.

She has grown SO much since we saw y'all last!!!

His,
Shari

Well, the pictures sure are cute. :) Maybe she just didn't know that she was supposed to open her mouth! I bet she'll like food once she tastes it.

Shari, I'm not worried at all. I really just had to laugh since she wouldn't even taste the rice cereal. She wouldn't open her mouth even to lick her lips to taste it. So funny!

Laura, I was trying to shove the spoon in, gently, of course! She knew I wanted her to open her mouth; she just wouldn't do it!!

It will come... eventually. My son is already 17 months, and he still refuses to open his mouth for food quite often.
