I have accomplished this much on John's blanket: four rows of five squares. I think it's going to end up bigger than either of expected, but I am going to put it on hold for a little while. John will not (should not) need it until fall, at least, so I think I'm going to work on some other things.
As you know, I love crocheting baby blankets, and I just found out that our church has a blanket ministry. Yea! I can crochet what I love, and they will go to a good cause. I have donated a few to our local pregnancy center, but I feel that being apart of something bigger through our church is better.
Here is the blanket I started on my birthday. I'm using Caron Spa yarn which has some bamboo in it which I think is kind of neat. I made this blanket (the pink one) for Rachel with it, and I like working with it, although I have to admit that I like my old standby better: Caron Simply Soft. But I got this skein free from the company as a promotional thing, and I will use it! I can't decide which side I like better. Can you even tell a difference in the pictures? I'm not sure I can.
I just have to share this story with your, too. We were talking about ages today, and I asked Sarah Beth how old she thinks I am. Her reply: "old." Guess who she learned that from.

Way to go!
I think the first side of the baby blanket has a smoother, softer look to it.
