Three Months

Rachel turns three months old today. Three month olds do a little more than two month olds, but not much. However, in my experience, babies at this age are easier than younger babies because they are learning to go to sleep on their own and they have periods during the day when they are awake and happy. So what is new for Rachel?

• She started sleeping through the night right when she turned two months old, but she has regressed to getting up once per night. Maybe she's in a growth spurt, but I have to admit that I miss my sleep.
• Her smiles are coming a lot more frequently, and I love seeing them. It's still hard to catch her smiling on camera, though. Sorry!
• She is awake much more during the day...and happy, too!
• She has learned to cry herself to sleep. Since neither Sarah Beth or Daniel would do this, it is truly a blessing that Rachel will. It is so nice to just put her in the swing or her bed, let her fuss for a few minutes, knowing that she will go to sleep.
• A good friend lent us a swing so we can put one in Rachel's room for her naps since she refused to sleep anywhere else during the day. Currently, however, we are working on her learning to sleep in her crib for naps.
• She is growing and growing! It makes me laugh to hear people say how little she is because she is so much bigger than she used to be!

Daniel "helped" me make the cake for a shower I helped throw this past weekend. He pulled up a chair and watched, and he was very good not to mess with all the implements I had on the counter. As a reward (and because his older sister got to go on an errand with Daddy, leaving him home with Mondy -- that's what Daniel calls me), he got to lick the beater.

I know that I am biased, but I think I got some very cute pictures of Daniel. As a matter of fact, I had a hard time deciding on just two to post!
