I think this is the first picture I have ever taken of my alarm clock. I think about it often, especially since I'm not sleeping well these days. What is so special about this old thing? That right there is the reason that it is special: it's over twenty years old. My parents gave it to me for Christmas when I was a child, and I have used it ever since. It went with me when I went to college, had my own apartment, changed jobs and towns, moved back in with my parents, moved in with John (after we got married, of course!), and then it moved with us every time we moved. This thing even took a couple of trips with me. Can you tell that I have a special place in my heart for my alarm clock? (Granted, these days I don't have to set it because my children don't let me oversleep.) Do you see what else is so special about it? It can play tapes! I don't think I've seen another one do that.
As I thought about my very special alarm clock, I was wondering if you have anything like it in your house. Do you have something that is fairly old, not worth much, but too special to get rid of or to replace? Is it something that you continue to use even though it doesn't look as nice as it used to? If so, leave a comment. I'd love to know that I'm not the only one!
