WIP Wednesday

I have done little crocheting this past week. Do you remember Pavlov and his dogs from high school? I have had something similar happen to me but in a bad way. I worked on my shawl a few times when I felt really sick, so now whenever I even think about working on it, my stomach turns. As a matter of fact, I started reading a crochet magazine one night after work when I felt awful, and now I cannot touch it. Another crochet magazine came in the mail last week, and it is still sitting where I left it. Having crochet give me an upset stomach is a very bad thing.

However, I enjoy crocheting too much to stop just because it makes me feel bad, although I have slowed down. Yesterday, I poured a big glass of Dr. Pepper (which helps my stomach for some reason) and knuckled down to start this baby afghan. I got quite a bit done which makes me happy. But I'm not sure I like the way it is turning out because it seems a little loose. I may have to frog it and start over. Oh, well.

That's funny that just the thought of crocheting triggers your morning sickness. Probably not too funny to you right now, but it will be later! The baby afghan may be loose, but it sure is pretty!

The baby afghan would be beautiful as a decorative item. It does look too loose for actual use though. Little fingers and toes would go through it and perhaps get tangled in it.

I had this same problem when I was pregnant with my first, but it was about being anywhere near chicken. Just looking at it, not even smelling it, would make me feel sick. It took me many years to be able to eat chicken again. Coke always settled my stomach.

The afghan is beautiful by the way, and the morning sickness won't last too much longer.

Very nice Nikki. As I know nothing about crocheting, it always looks perfect to me:) It is funny (maybe interesting is a better word?) how mentally we connect an experience (such as sickness) with an object or activity. Peanut Butter has made me sick ever since my first pregnancy.. 12 years ago. Still, I occasionally long for a PB&J sandwich. It's still hard to push through that mental block.

Aww how sad that one of your favorite things to do is making you sick! That really stinks!! Hope you feel better soon!
