Square Root Day and Grocery Shopping

I heard on the radio that today is Square Root Day because the date is 3-3-09.  I won't bother to explain anymore because I am sure you are smart enough to figure it out...although I wonder why today is not called Squared Day.  That would make more sense to me.  Apparently, it only happens nine times per century, and the next one will occur 4-4-16.

Grocery shopping.  Whether or not you enjoy it, it has to be done.  My favorite time to go is Monday night after I put Daniel to bed.  I discovered that time about six months ago, and it is nearly perfect for me.  I put Daniel to bed at 7:30, and then I head to the grocery store.  By the time I get there, the store is pretty empty so I don't have to maneuver around lots of people or wait in line.  Of course, it is after dark, and in the winter it's fairly chilly, but it works for me.  The best part is that I get to go by myself, and there is a CVS on the way if there are some good deals to snag.  What about you?  When do you like to go to the grocery store?  How often do you go?  I only go once a week.  How many children do you take with you?

What brought on this post about grocery shopping?  I couldn't go last night because John had a meeting at church.  I may not be able to go tonight because I have a meeting at church, although I hope to leave a little early in order to get some groceries.  I thought about going this morning, but it is supposed to be chilly today, and I don't want to take both children.  I need that roomin the buggy for groceries!

Hey, Nikki! I like to grocery shop once a week at about 10 on a weekday morning. Tuesdays are usually good. That way everybody is at work or school and the store is pretty quiet!

We homeschool, so I drag my 11 year old son with me. I know taking kids to the grocery store when they are young is a challenge, but when they get older, it's a blessing! He fetches and carries and we get in and out fast!

Right now I don't have a specific time I go grocery shopping for the week. And the last thing I want to do is take three kids with me, unless I'm really desperate. So husband picks up things from Costco every other week or so, and then I've been grabbing things here and there. In the summer when it's light later in the day, I often like to go then, since hubby can watch the kids. I'm not a big fan of grocery shopping, but like you said, a person has to do it.

I try to go on Wednesday because our store has really awesome one-day-only sales then. Problem is, I have to go really early before school starts or really late after choir practice that night. If I go early I go alone, and if I go late, I take the boys because Owen leads a short rehearsal after choir practice. After typing this, I realize that I must be crazy to try to save a few extra bucks on Wednesday.

Not a specific time. I do go once a week to town (10 minutes away) where Wal-mart (and CVS) is.

I go to Aldi (and Target), 45 minutes away every two weeks.

When needed we go to the local Pig (Piggly Wiggly) 3 minutes away for milk.

I do not take the boys UNLESS I have to. My mom usually keeps them and I buy here groceries for her. ;)

Blessings!

Okay, I just have to say that I'm SO jealous of Marva. She has a Walmart, CVS,and Aldi all within driving distance. It just ain't fair (do you like my whiney slang?lol). Lucky, lucky girl.
