My first thought when I heard that school had been cancelled was, "Oh, boy!" Then I realized that my day wouldn't change at all just because there was no school. We don't do school anyway, and Daniel and Sarah Beth still need to be taken care of. If it had been really bad, John might not have gone to work, and then he could have entertained our children while I cleaned bathrooms. That's the only difference snow would have made for us.
Another thing happened this weekend about which I want to ask your opinion. I had to call another pharmacy to transfer a prescription, and here is the conversation.
Other pharmacist, let's call him Scott because that's his name: CVS, this is Scott.
Nikki: I need a copy, please. (A copy is just a transfer.)
Scott: You must be from the North.
Nikki: No, I was born here in the South.
Scott: We like to use a Southern greeting down here. What city were you born in?
Nikki: I was born right here in this city.
Scott: I guess we need to teach you some manners.
As I discussed this conversation afterwards with my technicians, we decided that it was awfully rude of him to point out my lack of politeness. What do you think? Let me explain something else: most pharmacists use such a short greeting ("I need a copy") because usually a technician answers the phone, and we need the pharmacist for a transfer. We are usually too busy to say, "This is Nikki from the Wal-Mart on ---- Street, and I would like a copy, please, because then we have to say it all over again when the pharmacist gets on the phone. We like to streamline the process. Do you agree with our assessment that it was rude of Scott to point out my, as he called it, lack of manners?

Wow! I'd say that Scott is the one who needs to learn some manners! Good grief!
Sounds to me like Scott was having a bad day!
Speaking of being rude, I saw you working on Saturday (Abigail and I made a quick Walmart run), but I didn't stop to say "hi". I would have, but you were busy at the time and there was a line. :)
I agree - I would think he would be familiar with the way you all work - but maybe he had a bad day. You all need to be brief to get your jobs done in an efficient way...brief does not equal rude!
I agree, he was the rude one. Sounds like he needs a dose of Jesus!;)
Blessings!
Nikki, I think it was ill mannered of Scott to say that! Did he expect a whole conversation?
In our part of metro Atlanta (Cherokee County) we got flurries for a while late yesterday morning, but nothing stuck. There was some ice this morning, but not enough to call off school. (Not that it matters to us because we are homeschoolers!)
My husband works in Gwinnett County and there was a bit of snow on the ground over there this morning. They canceled school there, but hubby still had to work!
I too think Scott was having a bad day. I don't think you were rude at all! In Poland, some people almost run over you (When I was great with child, I might add) if you are not out of the street fast enough----- now that is rude!
I want to come visit you soon!
WHY did he ask you if you were from the NORTH??? Now, THAT is insulting to me;)
