I also bought these urns(?), vases(?) Friday but at a discount store. I plan to put them on the mantle after I have cleaned off the paraphernalia that is currently up there. You know, puzzles, crochet works in progress, a vase that was given to us. It all has to go for our living room's new look. At least, it has to go long enough for me to see the new look, then it will probably return. Where else can I put Sarah Beth's puzzles and my yarn where Daniel cannot reach them? By the way, what do you have on your mantle?
For those of you who have actually seen our living room, we also moved the couches. We swapped them, and I think it looks much better. The loveseat has always been placed where we did not sit, so it's cushions are still nice and firm. Now it sits where I like to sit, and I enjoy having it there.

I really like the color of the vases, and the rug looks very nice as well. Good choices Nikki. I'm supposing we're going to see pictures of it all tying in with the couch? lol Yes, we're insatiable in the picture department.
I don't have a mantle, but if I were to let it happen, the top of my piano would become a "dump" spot. I try to keep it decorated to avoid that. But when the kids are little you can be forgiven for your mantle stacking. Like you said, where else would you put it?:)
I'm hoping to post pictures of my craft decor project, but I have a child with a tummy ache, so we'll have to see. Have a great day!
That rug is great! I bet it looks really good in your large living room.
For your yarn/puzzle problem...maybe you should look at getting a large trunk of some sort that could sit under the windows opposite your couch. Or you could look for a long bench that's closed in with storage. That way you could have extra seating if you ever entertain and all of your stuff could still be in the room!
Angela, thanks for the ideas. They sound great!
I really like the rug and the vases! I don't have anything on my mantle right now except for a few dying poinsettias. :) Pretty sad. I need to do something about that.
