When I was at Kroger last Saturday on my outing, I saw that they had loaf pans buy one get one free. I wanted another one, so I couldn't resist getting two more. When I got home, I discovered this recipe on the back. It sounded pretty good (anything with chocolate chips has to be good, doesn't it?!!), so I tried it yesterday. Do you think Sarah Beth enjoyed her slice?
Anyway, here is the recipe. I left the nuts out because I just don't like them in things. Oh, and I just put all the chocolate chips in the bread and did not worry with drizzling them over the top. I made only one loaf, but it turned out decently well. I think my chocolate chips muffins are better, though.
Chocolate Nut Bread
Yields: 2 loaves
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 3/4 cups milk
- 2/3 cup vegetable oil
- 2 cups chocolate chips, divided
- 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease two large loaf pans. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl. Combine eggs, milk, and vegetable oil in medium bowl. Add to flour mixture; mix just until moistened. Stir in 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips and nuts. Spoon into prepared loaf pans. Bake for 50 to 55 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Microwave remaining chocolate chips in heavy-duty plastic bag for 45 seconds; knead bag to mix. Microwave at additional 10- to 20-second intervals, kneading until smooth. Cut a small hole in corner of bag; squeeze to drizzle over bread. Sprinkle with additional nuts.

That sounds way too good! Thanks for the recipe!!
Almost thou persuadest me to break my diet!
Looking at the close-up of your daughter, she seems to be a good mixture of you and your hubby (lookwise). What a cutie:)
Sarah Beth does look like both of you...she's beautiful! Andy by they way, how do you have time to bake all the time?!?! Your recipes always look so good. I should try some of them, but then I'd eat it all by myself....
Think I got too carried away with the y's there.
Mykidsmom, please don't break your diet for this bread. If you break your diet, it needs to be for something REALLY good, like a milkshake from Chick-fil-A. Yummy!!
Dayna, I put things together while I'm waiting for Sarah Beth to finish her lunch or snack. She is contained in her high chair, so I don't have to worry about her!
